Birthday & Holiday Greetings from The Lair

December 18 will mark the 12th year that the Wizard's Lair has been on the web (since 1997). So, will take this moment to thank all my contributors, all the visitors of this site, all the fans of this genre, and especially my most able and extremely talented assistant Scarlet Witch, without whom this page would not exist! (Literally, since there is no way would do all this by myself).

The first Fame/Favorites page has some new birthday wishes to the Lair, as well as a Christmas greeting.

New material by The AntiLeaf ... Piston Thorn ... and The Third Thane.

Larie & Aemi have funished off their Wonder Woman: Metro City serial.

Speaking of A-Emi, he has sent in five (5!!) new pages of material starting here.

Syncro has sent in two more pages of my abusing Wonder Woman starting here (with 2 special 'guests' to join her at the end).

My buddy Spade has sent me a little mini-story to celebrate the Lair's birthday with Supergirl! Guest starring Batgirl and Scarlet Witch!

Finally, everyone welcome new contributor Fantome, who is sharring with us all his adventures in Hayao (Second Life).

(Also, this will be my last update of the year, since will be spending the Christmas weekend with family. So, if contributors could hold off sending in new material until next year, I would be immensely grateful! :) )

And, with all the various articles, as well as Facebook memes flying about, I have come to a realization, due to the fact that I have actually been on the "other side of the phone", as it were. The Wizard's Lair is the DOWNFALL of the Superheroine in Distress Genre!

Seems of late I have been reading quite a bit about the failure of some pay sites within the community are closing down. Some are putting the blame on peer-to-peer sites in general, while others are placing the blame on The Wizard ’ s Lair in particular. Now, without knowing the financial specifics of each and every website that is closing down and/or losing money, how can anyone place any blame on any one thing in particular, or even accuse a single website, it ’ s webmaster, and it ’ s contributors for contributing to the financial decline of these sites? When I look around, I see that everyone is feeling the financial pinch, influenced largely by the (ever) rising cost of fuel, which has a cascading effect on everything from car sales, to food costs. People all over are doing everything that they can to save money, from driving less, to canceling vacations, and to eliminating discretionary expenses, of which would include memberships to websites.
