Where Do Our Responsibilities Lay?

Image
Let ’ s see if I can make a little more sense in regards to responsibility and morals at midnight, as opposed to 5am in the morning after working all night! I am sure that there are some of you that think that I must of competely flipped my lid there! Well, you may not be too far from the truth. First, let me say that in no way am I trying to proclaim myself as a pillar of moral responsibility! I know that I am not perfect, I am human, I make mistakes, and I have done a thing or two that is off the beaten track of upright morality. However, in that I can admit that freely and honestly, does make me better then many of those that SAY that they walk the path of upright morality in words, but their practices in truth are far from that. Alright then, what DID I mean about the connection between morality and responsibility. I think the closest one can get to that is the concept of compassion. The concept that we ARE our brother ’ s keepers. That WE, as a society, as a people, as a specie...

Ramblings of a Brain-Dead Wizard

Hiya Gang Well, been a while since I did anything here with this blog, so thought I better get you all up to date. Also, after trimming up some of my older entries, it seems like a post I made in July was out front here, for some reason, until you clicked the link and went to the more recent entry. Weird. The thing that has been keeping me the busiest of late is trying to judge the latest story contest. On one hand I am a bit ticked because people waited to the last moment to send in entries, which I know I specifically asked people not to do (thus 13 entries in 2 days), while on the other hand I am rather pleased with the overall number of entries received (22). A good turn out, I must say! Now, I have to decide which of 3 stories is the overall best. I had a couple of stories that were DQ ’ d coming out of the gate because the writers did not put their name on their entries (I did it for them for publicati on). Classic stuff from 2 nd grade, folks. PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR PAPERS!!...

A Responsibility to the Future

Image
"Children are our future! " What a bunch of bullshit!! I know that technically that is correct in that as children grow up that they will be the adults of the future and thus more apt to make decisions and actions in the future. Well... no du'h!! What gets me isn't that it is the kids that we are looking to to save our asses in (fill in the blank here to indicate which field of world-falling-apart that is appropriate), but that we adults are passing the buck off to those kids of the future to do the things that we should be doing now. I am talking in general here, because it would be too easy to get into tangents on specifics which would do more to focus just on one class of problem instead of looking at the over all situation. This is a matter of needing to look at the overall health of the forest and not the specific condition of one tree. Too often I hear people putting great hope upon the shoulders of juveniles that are too stupid to tie thier own shoes. Our s...
